Gold worth Rs 1.16 crore seized from duo at Mangaluru Airport

Mangaluru, August 14, 2023: Gold worth Rs 1,16,41,500 has been seized from two passengers at Mangaluru international airport on Sunday, 13th August.

The two passengers, who had arrived here from Abu Dhabi and Dubai on Sunday morning, were intercepted by the team of officials at the airport, a press release said.

In the first incident, Muhammed Noufal, 23, hailing from Kasargod in Kerala who arrived from Abu Dhabi was carrying 4 capsules containing gold in his rectum. A total of 1183 grams gold was recovered worth Rs. 70,62,510.

In the second case, customs officials recovered 767 grams of gold valued at Rs.45,78,990 from Ahmed Kabeer, 25, from  Kasaragod, who arrived from Dubai at 7.30am.

Both the accused were produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here.
