Gold valued at Rs 45.44 lakh confiscated at Mangaluru International Airport

Mangaluru, Feb 18, 2024: Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) customs officials made a substantial discovery by seizing 733 grams of gold with an estimated value of Rs 45,44,600 hidden in the drainage chamber of a washroom at the airport.

 

The gold, in paste form, was found concealed within a black pouch discreetly placed inside the drainage chamber of a washroom located in the immigration arrival area. The identity of the person responsible for hiding the gold in the washroom remains undisclosed.

Customs authorities have launched an additional investigation to determine the origin and intended recipient of the smuggled gold.
