
Mangaluru, Aug 25, 2026: Excise officials have busted a network involved in illegally transporting liquor from Goa to Kerala via Mangaluru and arrested two persons in connection with the case.
The arrested have been identified as Basavaraju Bovi, the owner and driver of the car, and Nagaveni Nayak.
Acting on information about the illegal transportation of liquor from Goa without a valid permit, a special excise team seized a Swift Dzire car and recovered 438 litres of Goa liquor.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Mangaluru Division Excise Joint Commissioner Balakrishna C.H. and the direction of Dakshina Kannada Excise Deputy Commissioner Bindushree.
The special team included Mangaluru Sub-Division Deputy Superintendent Gayathri C.H., Bantwal Sub-Division Deputy Superintendent Santosh Modagi, Bantwal Taluk Excise Inspector Lakshman Shivanagi, Talapady Checkpost Inspector Dattaguru Atheni, Sub-Inspectors Jayappa, Shivashankar and Abhishek, and constable Prakash.
Sunita, an inspector from the Joint Commissioner’s office, registered the case.
