Global Konkani Music Lifetime Award to be conferred on Fr Walter Albuquerque

Mangalore, Nov 29, 2013: Mandd Sobhann will confer the ‘Global Konkani Music Lifetime Achievement Award’ on Fr Walter Albuquerque SJ for his contribution to Konkani Music at the 5th Global Konkani Music Awards Ceremony to be held at Kalangann on December 8 at 6 pm.

 

Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Nov 29, Friday, Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario said that the panel of judges have shortlisted the top three Nominees in categories such as ‘Best Singer Female- 2012’, ‘Best Singer Male-2012’, ‘ Best Music Composer-2012’, ‘Best Lyricist-2012’, ‘Best Music Arranger-2012’ and ‘Best Music Album -2012’.

All the three nominees from six categories will honoured with the cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a memento, while the Lifetime Achievement Award comprising of Rs 1 lakh cash prize and a memento will also be presented at the 5th Global Konkani Music Awards Ceremony. 

Umashree, Minister for Kannada and Culture, Government of Karnataka, will be the Chief Guest. DID Supermom fame Cecille Rodrigues will be the Special Guest, while MLA J R Lobo, will be the Guest of Honour.

Nephie Rod from Mumbai and Nach Sobhann will perform at the award ceremony.  Entry is open to all.

Mandd Sobhann president Louis Pinto, Secretary Irine Rebello, Co-ordinator Stany Alvares and PRO Arun Raj Rodrigues were present.
