Ginger Forum organizes protest against corrupt companies

Mangalore, Oct 24, 2011: The Ginger Forum of Mangalore organized a protest titled Occupy Dalal Street in front of the DCs office in support of the Seize Wall Street movement on Oct 24 Monday.

Addressing protestors, SP Chengappa, the president of Mangalore Bar Association, said that they have decided to protest against Indian corporate companies that are looting common people and against America’s domination over the global financial market.

Further, he said that policies designed by the government are in the interests of the corporate world although we live in a democratic country. He also said that 99 percent of the population are under the effects of the 1 percent rich companies that rule the country. He also said that the Ginger Forum is demanding a tax hike on rich and corporate companies.

Speaking about the protest, he said that it commenced in USA on September 17 and has now spread to 80 countries all over the globe. The movement demands curtailment of corporate domination.

Speaking about the condition of poor people in the state and the rise in corruption level, he said that people should not have tolerated all this irresponsibility. The fact that 37 percent of the Indian population is still below poverty line is the only achievement of the government, he added.

V. T. Rajashekar of Dalit Voice, human rights activists Prof. Rita Noronha, and P. B. D’Sa of PUCL were among the dignitaries present at the protest.
