Franklin Monteiro lauds BJP’s pro-Christian stance

Mangalore, Dec 4, 2011: Franklin Monteiro, the state vice president of the BJP Minority Morcha, said at a press meet held in the District BJP office today that he welcomes the government’s decision to withdraw the 23 cases against Christian youth filed during the church attacks of 2008.

Further, he said that the BJP-led state government has made a number of sincere efforts for the development of the Christian community. He said that the state government has earmarked Rs. 50 crore for the establishment of a Christian Development Corporation and that this corporation will have 8 non-government members and four high-level government members. 


Informing that the CM has already released Rs. 30 crore on Dec 1, he said that the rest of the funds can be released any time. 


He urged the members of the Christian community to be grateful to the BJP government and to utilize all the governments schemes launched for their benefit. 


He also remarked that Christians are living in peace not only in Karnataka, but in all states ruled by the BJP.  


N. Yogish Bhat, the deputy speaker of the Karnataka State Assembly, and Padmanabha Kottary, the BJP district president were also present.
