Four men arrested for temple burglaries

Mangalore, Jul 25: Four persons, arrested for stealing from temples in areas belonging to the Commissionerate jurisdiction, were produced before reporters at a press conference held in the commissioner’s office in Mangalore on July 25, Sunday.

The arrested are Seetharam Shetty (49) of Vitla, Ravi (21) of Chikmagalur, Anand Poojary (20), and Gopal (22) of Hassan. They had stolen from temples in Sakleshpur, Bhatkal, Bantwal, Uppinandadi, Surathkal, Belthangady, and Bajpe. The police said that Seetharam Shetty had masterminded most of these cases. Rs. 1 lakh has been confiscated from these thieves.

The arrest was done by a team of police personnel under the leadership of CPI Panambur Valentine D’Souza. The team comprised Gopal Kotapady PSI (crime), Anantha Padmanabha PSI (law and order), Vijayaraj Kavoor, Mohith, Kiran, Jeevan, Ravichandra, Ravikumar, Jagadisha, and others.
