
Udupi, Mar 19, 2013: Udupi does not want to lag too behind Mangalore. If the synthetic track at Mangala Stadium in Mangalore was inaugurated on March 18 by Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, in Udupi foundation was laid for a synthetic track at the Mahatma Gandhi Stadium at Ajjarkad on March 19, Tuesday.

Speaking after laying the foundation, local MLA Raghupathi Bhat said the 400 meter long synthetic track will be laid at a cost of Rs 3.64 lakhs. He said the work would be complete by four months and assured that the quality of works would be strictly monitored.
The MLA also informed that the works on an open air theatre at Beedinagudde and a cricket ground is also underway.
Dr MT Reju, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi, Upendra Nayak, Udupi ZP Chief, Gokuldas Nayak, Udupi CMC Commissioner, Sheela K Shetty, Chairman of State Coir Board, Balakrishna Hegde, President of Udupi Athletic Association, Ranga Pai, its Vice President, Rohit Kumar Kateel, international athlete, Appachu, Joint Director of the Youth and Sports Authority were among others present on the occasion.
