Mangalore, January 19: Dayanand Kamath, former state Ranji player, died of heart attack at his residence on Wednesday, January 19.
Born on November 4, 1943 in Mangalore, Kamath made his debut for the State (then called Mysore) against Andhra in Bangalore in Nov 1962 and went on to play in 19 more Ranji matches.
He also played two other first-class matches, one each against Marylebone Cricket Club of India and Ceylon.The right-hander tallied 634 runs at an average of just over 23 with an unbeaten century and three half-centuries.
He also scalped 23 wickets at 15.65 with seven for 42 being his best return. The President, office bearers and members of the Managing Committee of the Karnataka State Cricket Association have condoled the death of Dayanand.
