Fishermen of coastal Karnataka warned against venturing into sea till July 17

Mangaluru, July 15, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday that squally weather with wind speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail along and off the coast of Karnataka till July 17 and warned fishermen against going sailing till July 17.

“Fishermen are advised not to venture into the Arabian sea till July 17,” the IMD bulletin said.

It issued yellow alert to the coastal districts on July 15.

Meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada recorded 43.4 mm of rainfall during the last 24-hour period, which ended at 8.30 a.m. on Monday. Udupi district received 48 mm of rainfall during the period.

According to the Dakshina Kannada District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), 18 electricity poles of Mescom and a house in Bantwal taluk were damaged during the period.  

Dakshina Kannada district received 2,649.2 mm of rainfall against the normal of 1,726 mm between January 1 and July 14, the DDMA said.
