Mangaluru, Mar 05, 2022: A fish merchant was attacked and robbed of Rs 2.15 lakhs by masked men who waylaid his tempo at Adamkudru on the National Highway 66 on March 5, Saturday morning.
Mustafa (47) of Ullal Mukkacheri who was injured has been hospitalised. Mustafa along with Moosa of Mastikatte was heading towards the port to purchase fish as usual on Saturday morning. As the tempo reached Adamkudru a red coloured car which was following the vehicle waylaid the tempo and three masked men threatened Mustafa and demanded that he hand over the cash bag. When Mustafa refused and tried to get out of the vehicle, the assailants attacked him with machete and escaped with Rs 2.15 lakhs, as per the complaint lodged by the victim.
Senior police officials have visited the spot and are also inspecting CCTV footage.
Speaking about the incident, Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said there is a suspicion that the incident took place due to an enmity and it has come to light that even the assailants were speaking in Beary language.
