Fire on Uppinangady government hospital premises

Puttur, Mar 9, 2012 : Several trees in the premises of the government community hospital of Uppinangady burned down in a fire that went unnoticed for a long time after it originated on the evening of March 8 Thursday.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but it is widely believed that someone must have carelessly tossed aside a burning cigarette. Someone might have started the fire on purpose too although the motive is not known.

 

 

Since dry leaves were scattered all over the ground, the fire spread rapidly. People living in the residential quarters of the hospital were worried that the fire might spread their way, but the fire fighting personnel arrived on time and put off the fire before it could cause more damage. In spite of their best efforts, however, an occasional flame could be viewed on several trees for a long time.
