Beltangady, Oct 18, 2012 : Addressing the press on Oct 17, Wednesday, the family of 17-year-old Sowjanya, who was raped and murdered near Pangala in Dharmathala on Oct 10, demanded that Sowjanya’s case must be handed over to the CoD.
Chandappa Gowda, father of Sowjanya, and Babu Gowda, her grandfather, addressed reporters. They said that several cases of rape and murder have been reported in Dharmasthala during the past two months and demanded that all these cases must be thoroughly investigated by the CoD.
They said that Santhosh Rao, who has been arrested, is not the only person involved in the crime.
They also urged police officers to withdraw cases booked against residents who protested against the crime, adding that it is wrong to book cases against protestors.
The family was accompanied by Kushalappa Gowda, president of the Okkaliga Sangha of Purandar.
