Families of Fazil, Jaleel, 2 others from Dakshina Kannada handed over Rs 25 lakh compensation

Bengaluru, June 19, 2023: The families of six persons including four from Dakshina Kannada, who were killed in incidents of communal hatred received a compensation of Rs 25 lakhs each from the state government on June 19, Monday. The compensation was handed over by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Bengaluru in the presence of his cabinet colleagues.

The families of Mohammad Fazil from Suratkal, Masood from Sullia, Abdul Jaleel from Suratkal, Deepak Rao from Suratkal, Idris Pasha from Mandya and Shameer Saab from Gadag received the compensation.

Speaking after handing over the cheques, Chief Minister said the injustice and discrimination done by the earlier BJP government has been set right.

He also said the government would initiate stern action against those resorting to moral policing. Even communal elements will be dealt firmly, he said.
