Fake note circulation case : Man gets 4 years jail

Mangaluru, Feb 18, 2023: The Third District and Sessions Court of Mangaluru has sentenced a man to four years of imprisonment in a case pertaining to circulation of fake currency notes.

The convict is Abbas (53) of Ira village in Bantwal taluk. He was arrested in 2019 while he was trying to circulate fake notes in Mulki area. Police had then seized 16 fake currency notes of Rs 100 denomination from him.

It was stated that  Abbas had got 20 colour xerox prints of 3 real currency notes of Rs 100 denomination  at a xerox shop  on Falnir Road in the city on October 24, 2019. The same year in November he had given the  fake note to a shop in  Mulki after making some purchases. Similarly he circulated the fake note at an eatery and four other places.

A few who suspected that the notes were fake had informed the police following which an investigation was launched.
