Mangaluru, June 17, 2025: Nikhil Sonnad, a student of Expert Pre-University College, Mangalore, has achieved a historic feat by securing the 17th rank at the All India level in NEET 2025. With this, he has emerged as the topper in both South India and Karnataka in the recently held All India UG NEET examination conducted for admission to medical colleges.
While the national qualification rate for UG NEET stands at 56%, an impressive 99% of students from Expert Pre-University College, Mangalore, have qualified for medical admission. This extraordinary result marks a new milestone in the institution’s academic legacy. Notably, 1.43% of all students in India who scored 601 marks and above in NEET 2025 are from Expert, a statistic described as “unprecedented” by Prof. Narendra L. Nayak, Chairman of Expert Group of Institutions.
Prof. Nayak further highlighted that seven students of the college scored more than 625 marks, and nineteen students scored more than 600. Fifty-seven students crossed the 575 mark, eighty-one scored above 550, and 146 students scored more than 525 marks. In total, 233 students scored over 500 marks, 324 over 475, 440 over 450, 567 over 425, and 684 students surpassed the 400-mark milestone, reflecting the remarkable academic depth of the institution.
Ten students from the college have secured ranks within the top 500 nationally, while fifteen students are ranked within the top 1,000 and twenty-four within the top 2,000.
This year’s NEET exam was particularly challenging. Nikhil Sonnad scored 670 out of 720 marks. In addition to this stellar performance, he had earlier secured a perfect 100 in all three core subjects in the Second PUC Board Examination. In the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2025, he secured 8th rank in Agriculture, 26th in BNYS, 51st in Veterinary Medicine and Nursing, 61st in B.Pharm and D.Pharm, and 65th in the Engineering category.
Other top achievers from the college include Nidhi K.G., who secured 648 marks and achieved 84th All India Rank. Saish Shravana Pandit scored 636 marks and secured 159th rank. Shreyas Mallappa Mahalingapura scored 632 marks and stood 214th, while Suchit P. Prasad, with 630 marks, secured 226th rank. Varun Siddappa Gowder also scored 630 marks and secured 241st rank, and Siddesh B. Dammalli obtained 626 marks, placing him at 317th rank.
Pooja scored 623 marks and achieved 386th rank. Vachana L.A. scored 620 marks and was ranked 455th. Manish L. secured 486th rank with 619 marks. Charan Gowda and K. Hanan Abdul Rehman both scored 617 marks, securing 549th and 543rd ranks respectively. N.B. Sanika scored 611 marks and was placed at 771st rank, while Manvit Vishal S.R. scored 607 marks and secured 937th rank. Vachana Allama Prabhu Bagodi obtained 606 marks and stood 994th. Tushar R. Bhat scored 603 marks and was placed at 1175th rank. Chaitanya T. Patil, Sai Lakshminarayana, and Yogit Gowda H.V. each scored 601 marks and secured 1298th, 1316th, and 1320th ranks respectively. Yashas Gowda H.P. scored 599 marks and stood 1481st. Ninada Krishna Lashkari scored 598 marks and achieved 1494th rank. Lakshya L. Poojar scored 597 marks and secured 1554th rank. Shivanagowda S. Patil scored 594 marks and was placed at 1802nd rank, while Prajwal N.R. secured 593 marks and ranked 1929th.
All students enrolled in the NEET long-term course at Expert PU College have qualified for medical admission. Among them, nine students scored more than 525 marks, eighteen scored more than 500, fifty-four scored over 450, and 109 scored above 400 marks.
Earlier this year, Amulya Kamath of the college scored an exceptional 599 out of 600 in the Second PUC Science stream examination conducted by the Department of Pre-University Education. Further demonstrating the college’s academic strength, thirty-three students secured top ten ranks in seven different sections of the CET conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority. Among these were fifteen ranks within the top ten overall, including 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 8th, and 9th ranks.
These consistent and remarkable accomplishments reaffirm that the students of Expert PU College have set new benchmarks of academic excellence this year.
