Exclusive kids’ library to be launched in city

Mangalore, April 7, 2012 : An exclusive library called Chrysalis Children’s Library will be inaugurated at Kodialbail on April 8 Sunday.

Rakhee Raveendran, the owner of the library, says that the library will comprise over 10,000 books for children between 1 – 17 years, an Internet café, a toy library, and a specialty book store. It is also going to be the first library of its kind for children.

She says that the books have been categorized according to age groups. Accordingly, there are basic picture and board books for babies, word books for toddlers, and chapter books for kids up to 17 years of age, she added.


Chrysalis also lends toys for a period of one month or more. These toys include Kidzoom digital cameras and Leap Frog Writing Guides, to mention just two.

The library charges a monthly membership fee of Rs. 150 and will lend four books at a time. Rs. 750 will also be collected as a caution deposit that will be refunded when members leave the library.
