Ex-Servicemen’s Association to observe Vijay Diwas on Dec 16

Mangalore, Dec 14, 2012: DK District Ex –Servicemen’s Association will observe ‘Vijay Diwas’ on December 16 to commemorate the nation’s victory in the Indo-Pak war of 1971. There will be a commemoration ceremony wherein wreaths/ flowers will be laid at War Memorial, Kadri Hills at 10 am that day.

Speaking to reporters  at Press Club on Dec 14, Friday, Association President Col  Nitteguthu Sharath Bhandary  said that the ‘Vijay Diwas’   celebrations will be spread over two days and that the function would be held with the joint co-operation of Lions District 317-D.

 

There will be a public function at Town Hall on Dec 17, Monday at 5 pm to felicitate and honour   brave warriors from DK district including Col N M Rai, Col Balakrishna Rai and Harry Pais. Justice N Santhosh Hegde, former Lokayukta will honour the soldiers with Gallantry Awards.

Association Vice President Capt Deepak Adyanthaya, Secretary S M Airan and former president R K Shetty were present at the press meet.
