Ex-Mayor Gulzar Banu loses to SDPI candidate

 Mayor Gulzar BanuMangalore, March 11, 2013 : Gulzar Banu, the erstwhile mayor of Mangalore, who rose to the top post in an unexpected turn of events and became mayor by default, has however, failed to make it to the city corporation this time. In a surprise  result, she has lost against SDPI candidate in Katipalla North Ward No. 5.


Gulzar Banu has  lost to Ayaz, an SDPI candidate by a margin of 625. This is the first time that the SDPI has made its way into the Mangalore City Corporation.

On the other hand, former Congress mayor Shashidhar Hegde and former BJP mayor Ganesh Hosabettu have been successful in registering a win.
