Enough stock of sand in district, DC Rajendra allays fears of shortage

Mangaluru, May 25, 2022: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra has said that there was enough stock of sand in the district and it was suffice for the next three months.

Speaking to reporters here, the DC said it was not proper to say that the sand prices have increased due to ban on sand mining in CRZ limits.

He said the sand  collected after desilting Shambhur and Maravoor dams have been  stocked and is of good  quality. He said those in need of sand can apply through Maralu Mitra App and  get 10 metric tonnes of sand for Rs 7000.

The Adyapady and Shambhur sand stock yards have 9000 and 12,000 metric tonnes of sand respectively, he added.
