Endosulfan panel meets in city : Demands permanent compensation for victims

Mangalore, Sep 22, 2013: The first meeting of the  committee formed for the welfare of the Endosulfan affected people, which was held here  on September 21, Saturday, demanded a permanent compensation to the thousands of people affected by the deadly pesticide.

The meeting was held in the presence of DK District in-charge Minister  and Honorary President of the Samithi B Ramanatha Rai,  Health and Family Welfare Minister and Samithi Vice President UT Khader and ZP President Koragappa Naik.

Several suggestions including  a government job to one member of the family of an Endosulfan affected person, free medical and bus pass facility,  steps for a re-survey of Endosulfan affected  people and provision of honorarium for the mothers of the Endosulfan affected people, were put forth at the meeting.

Health Minister Khader said a report would soon be submitted to the government based on the suggestions put forth at the meeting.

Endo Action Committee President Sridhar Gowda, Deputy Commissioner N Prakash, ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni., JR Lobo, Moidin Bava, Shakuntala Shetty, Legislators and several others were present.
