Mangalore, Nov 7, 2012 : Norbert Gonsalves received the 8th Kalakar Puraskar, given away by Carvalho Gharane, Mandd Sobhann, and Thomas Stephens Konkani Kendr of Goa, in recognition and appreciation of his ability to play a number of musical instruments.

The award was given away on Nov 4, Sunday by Hemacharya, theatre artist and director, in the presence of Fr. Apollo Cardozo, director of Thomas Stephens Konkani Kendr; Eric Ozario, Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann; Stany Alvares, president of Mandd Sobhann; and Florine Lobo, representative of Carvalho Gharane.

Steven Dias, central excise officer, inaugurated an exhibition of a collection of currency notes at 5:30 p.m. Richard Lobo, the owner of this collection, which comprises currency notes from 220 countries, was congratulated and felicitated on this occasion.

The 131st monthly theatre Geeth Mandovi Zuvarichem was staged on this occasion.
