Elderly woman found murdered at Kadaba Noojibaltila

Uppinangady, aug 30, 2013 :  An elderly woman  has been  found murdered at the doorsteps of her house at a place called Korijalu in  Kadaba Noojibaltila village on August 29, Thursday evening. The murder is learnt to have taken place the previous night.



The deceased woman is Chennamma (60), wife of Late Chacko. Her body was first noticed by some passerby who informed neighbours as well as the police. Chennamma who has  three children was however leading a solitary life. She was into farming and had good relations with her neighbor. Though the exact cause of the murder is not known, a property dispute is suspected to be the reason for the murder.

As  the body was found bulged, it is suspected that she might have been  murdered the previous night. Two of Chennamma’s sons were married. If the eldest son Raju who was staying abroad had recently returned back owing to ill-health and was staying at Belthangady, another son  too is abroad and was expected to return hometown in a few days. The woman’s daughter Usha was  given in marriage to a man of a  neighbouring family.

Chennamma’s husband is learnt to have committed suicide ten years ago for some reason and since then she has been leading a solitary life. She had retained some land for herself and had distributed the rest of the property among her children.

It is learnt, the piece of land owned by Chennamma was itself the bone of contention which  is suspected to have  culminated in the murder. He neck was found slit with a sharp weapon and even her gold chain is found missing giving room for suspicion that this might be a murder for gain.

Senior police officials visited the place. A dog squad too has been pressed into service. Kadaba police are investigating the case.
