Elderly Man Dies After Bus Collision While Attempting to Board Near Subrahmanya

Subrahmanya, July 12, 2026: A 75-year-old man died after being hit by a private bus while attempting to board it at Anekallu, near Subrahmanya, on Saturday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Chennappa Gowda (75), a resident of Mutlaje in Anekallu village.

According to police, Chennappa Gowda was waiting at the Anekallu bus stop to travel to Panja. As a bus travelling from Subrahmanya towards Puttur arrived, he reportedly rushed across the road in an attempt to board it. In the process, he collided with the moving bus and fell onto the road, suffering severe head and chest injuries.

Local residents rushed him to the Government Hospital in Subrahmanya by ambulance. He was later referred to Kadaba Hospital for advanced treatment but succumbed to his injuries while being shifted, police said.

He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter and a daughter-in-law. A case has been registered at the Subrahmanya Police Station, and further investigation is in progress.
