Efforts to be made to resolve Hejamady toll impasse : Minister Sunil Kumar

Udupi, Dec 03, 2022: State Minister for Kannada and Culture V Sunil Kumar said the  move to collect a combined toll at Hejamady toll gate including the toll of the now closed Suratkal toll gate  is unscientific and efforts would be made to solve the impasse at the central level.

He was speaking to reporters after participating in a meeting of officials and elected representatives held at the Udupi Taluk Office on December 3, Saturday.

The Minister said there has been an order to shift the entire toll of Suratkal toll gate to Hejamady toll gate. He said the shifting of the burden of one toll gate to another is unscientific.  Talks will be held with the Chief Minister too on finding a solution to the issue. The meeting has deliberated on the matter, he added.

He said the meeting decided to propose to the NH Authoirity to exempt vehicles from Udupi district from paying additional toll and to have a separate lane for Udupi vehicles. The Minister further exuded confidence that the issue would soon be resolved.

 The meeting was attended by Udupi District in-charge Minister S Angara through online. Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, DC Kurma Rao, Additional DC  Veena, SP Akshay Machindra and others were present.
