Easter celebrations commence all over DK

Mangalore, Apr 7, 2012: The celebration of Easter, the day on which Jesus Christ is believed to have risen from the dead, began for Christians in DK on the evening of April 7.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Holy Week, which commences with Palm Sunday, concludes with Easter Sunday. While Maundy Thursday commemorates the last supper Jesus had with his disciples, Good Friday is the day on which he was crucified. 

Thousands of devotees attended the Easter Vigil held in parishes all over the district. This candlelit ceremony commenced with the blessing of the candle, the fire, and the holy water. The church organ, which is silent throughout Lent, comes back to life at Easter.
