ESI Hospital discrepancies : Sudatta Jain ends hunger strike heeding to JR Lobo’s request

Mangalore, May 23, 2013 : The indefinite hunger strike launched by Sudatta Jain, a leader of the Akhila Bharatha Karmika Sangha eleven days ago,  demanding better facilities at the ESI hospital in Mangalore, ended on May 22, Wednesday following an assurance given by Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo to fulfill the demands.

MLA Lobo along with  ESI Scheme Director)Bangalore) Dr Rahimunnisa met Jain who has been on an indefinite fast in front of the DC office, on Wednesday afternoon and convinced him that steps would be taken to improve the conditions at the Hospital.


Some of the demands of Jain are to upgrade the infrastructure in the ESI Hospital and also to take steps to see that the Hospital is entirely funded by the Union Government. He has also demanded a full time doctor at the Hospital as well as setting up of a separate hospital for beedi workers.


Sudatta Jain said health minister UT Khader has also spoken to him over phone and Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty to had visited him during the course of his hunger strike.
