Bengaluru, Mar 9, 2026: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have registered an FIR against two individuals for allegedly cheating job aspirants by promising them employment in the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). The accused allegedly lured candidates with promises of various posts, including placements at the Mangaluru depot, and cheated them of more than ₹12 lakh.

The accused have been identified as Rudresh S Nayak, a resident of Chikka Torepalya in Magadi taluk, and Shashi Bhushan, a resident of Bengaluru.

Job scam

The complaint was filed by a job aspirant named Prasad. According to the complaint, Prasad became acquainted with Rudresh during 2022–23 while pursuing a law degree. Rudresh allegedly claimed to be a senior official in the KSRTC selection department and even swore on his wife and children to gain the trust of the job seekers.

Initially, the accused collected ₹26,000 from each aspirant. Later, Prasad transferred ₹12 lakh to a Karnataka Bank account in Ramanagara. To convince the victims, the accused called them to a hotel in Bengaluru and showed documents bearing a fake KSRTC letterhead and official seal. He then demanded ₹1 lakh for a posting at the Mangaluru depot and ₹2 lakh for a higher-ranking position.

The victims grew suspicious when the accused failed to provide appointment letters and later switched off his phone. After making their own inquiries, they found that Rudresh had allegedly cheated several others in a similar manner and was currently absconding.

The victims also alleged that Shashi Bhushan, who was involved in the initial financial transactions, misled them when questioned about Rudresh’s whereabouts. Prasad has urged the CCB to take strict legal action against both individuals for their alleged fraudulent activities.

The CCB police are currently investigating the case.
