Drivers’ brawl leads to traffic block on NH66

Kundapur, Oct 23, 2012 :Two drivers got into a fight on NH66 at Tallur near Hemmadi on Oct 22, Monday, creating a lot of disturbance in the area.


taluuer 1A pick-up truck filled with logs, and going from Gangolli to Kundapur, overtook a private bus, which was going in the same direction and came in its way. This led to a quarrel between the driver of the pick-up truck and the driver of the private bus, in the course of which the pick-up driver allegedly caught hold of the private bus driver’s shirt. The furious bus driver brought a rod from inside the bus and allegedly beat up the pick-up driver.

The pick-up driver Ratnakar put up his hands to defend himself and suffered a fracture in his arm. He is now recovering at Chinmayee Hospital in Kundapur.

The local people allegedly thrashed up the bus driver, after which Shekar Poojary, president of the Tallur Rickshaw Drivers’ Union, and other leaders intervened and prevented further damage.

This led to a traffic block for around half an hour on the highway. The Kundapur traffic police finally brought the situation under control.
