Dr Veerendra Heggade to inaugurate Mangalore Dasara on Oct 5

Mangalore, Sep 23, 2013: Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade will inaugurate the Mangalore Dasara which will be held at Kudroli Gokarnanatha Kshetra from Oct 5, Saturday - 14, Monday. 


Speaking at the press meet held at Kudroli Gokarnanatha Kshetra auditorium on Sep 23, Monday committee trustee Harikrishna Bantwal said that Gokarnaktheshwara is the only temple in the world where the idols of Sharada and the Navadurgas are installed in one place.

He said that the consecration of the Navadurgas will mark the beginning of the Mangalore Dasara celebration on Oct 5, Saturday at 11:30 p.m. The nine-day festival will comprise a number of cultural and religious programme at Santhoshi auditorium which will start from 6 pm.  


Every day, special poojas will be offered to the newly installed idols of Mahagowri, Kathyayini, Mahakali, Brahmacharini, Shailaputhri, Kushmandini, Siddhidhatri, and Skandmatha—all different avatars of Goddess Durga.  


On the last day, a grand procession will start at 4 p.m. from Kudroli Temple and will pass through Mannagudda, M. G. Road, Alake, and Ram Bhavan Circle, before heading back to Kudroli, where all the idols will be immersed.  


Troupes of artistes will arrive from all over the state and also from the neighboring states. The procession will comprise of various tableaux, hulivesha, gombe mela, Trishur color umbrella dancers, chende and panchavadya’s.  


Shri Gokarnatha Kshethra President and Administrator Officer H. S. Sairam, Vice President Raghavendra Kulur, treasurer Padmaraj R., Devdas contractor, Devendra Poojary, Maheshchandra, Leelaksha Karkera, Harishchandra, Dr B G Suvarna, Dr Anusuya and others were present.
