Bengaluru, August 18, 2024: In a ceremony held at the BLVD Club Hall, Embassy Boulevard, Bengaluru, renowned orthopedic surgeon and Pro-Chancellor of Nitte Deemed to be University, Dr. M. Shantharam Shetty, unveiled his latest book titled Cancer - God’s Gift to Me, How I Made It - A True Story. The event was graced by Justice N. Santosh Hegde, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India and former Lokayukta of Karnataka, who dedicated the book to the public.
In his address, Justice Hegde praised Dr. Shetty for his unwavering commitment to patient care and ethics in medicine. "A successful doctor knows the importance of morality in the field of medicine. Dr. Shantharam Shetty exemplifies this, always ensuring the well-being, rights, and dignity of his patients. His contribution to enhancing patients’ confidence is immense. He is not only humane and always helpful, but he has also authored numerous books in both Kannada and English to share his knowledge with the public. His recent book on his personal battle with cancer is truly remarkable, highlighting how positivity in life can overcome turmoil," said Justice Hegde.
In addition to Dr. Shetty’s cancer memoir, three other books were also released during the event: Yelubu Rogigalu and Yoga, Vaidya Vruttiya Neeti mattu Tatva, and Molahalli-My Golden Village - My Ancestral Home -Patel’s Doddamane. The books were launched by Dr. H. Sudarshan Ballal, Chairperson of Manipal Hospitals, Bengaluru, and Dr. A.C. Sreeram, Chairman of Mallige Hospital, Bengaluru.
The event was attended by a large gathering of doctors, educators, and social service experts, all paying tribute to Dr. Shetty’s contributions to medicine and his efforts to share knowledge with the wider community.
