Door-to-door campaign to be launched to check spread of contagious diseases : Khader

Mangalore, May 25, 2013: State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader has instructed officials of the Department of Health to initiate all possible measures to check the spread of contagious diseases.


Addressing media persons at Circuit House where the minister heard the grievances of the public and accepted memoranda, Khader said  while referring to the death of four children due to Dengue in Mysore, said  hospitals, both private and government should ensure the best possible treatment to the patients. He also assured financial aid from the government for poor patients who get admitted to government hospitals for treatment of contagious diseases.

The  Minister further  said awareness programmes will be held at the state level and added health officials will be on a door-to-door campaign against the diseases and also to treat the patients  if any. He also warned of stern action against any health officer who faces charges of dereliction of duty.


On the problems of Endosulfan victims, Khader said he has visited the affected areas and added steps would be taken to disburse compensation within three months.


Continuing, Khader said rural posting was must for doctors before they get their MBBS degrees.
