District in-charge Minister visits sea-erosion hit Battappady area

Mangaluru, June 12, 2023: Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Minister Dinesh Gundurao on June 11, Sunday visited Battapady area in Uchila near Ullal which faces wrath of sea erosion every year.

With mighty waves lashing the shore, a portion of a guest house here which was damaged  last here was completely engulfed by the sea. Already over 50 coconut trees have uprooted due to the might of the sea waves.


Speaking on the occasion, the minister said a permanent solution will be found to the problem next year.

Local MLA and Assembly Speaker U T Khader, Deputy Commissioner Ravi Kumar, Additional DC Krishnamurthi and other officials were present.

The Minister said officials have been instructed to provide land to those who lost their houses. Temporary measures to mitigate sea erosion will be taken as soon as rains subside, he added
