District administration arranges workshop on media

Mangalore, July 14, 2012: The information department and the district administration jointly organized a workshop on media in Nethravathi Hall of Zilla Panchayat (ZP) in Urwa on July 14, Saturday.

Dr. Channappa Gowda, deputy commissioner for DK, inaugurated the event and said in his inaugural address that workshops such as these will strengthen the relationship between the media and the government.

 

Prof. Narayan, senior journalist, and Shivaprasad, senior producer for TV9, were the resource persons.

In his address, Prof. Narayan said that journalists who write reports must have excellent general knowledge, such as the differences between a charge sheet and a B report, the differences between a new page and an editorial, and so on.

Speaking about the media’s social duties, Mr. Shivaprasad said that the media can bring to light several burning social issues. He also lamented that most journalists are not really committed to their career.

Dr. N. Vijayaprakash, CEO of ZP; Harish Kumar, MCC commissioner; and many police officers were also present.
