District Administration to honour 20 personalities with Rajyothsava Award

Mangalore, Oct 31, 2013: Dakshina Kannada district administration will honour a total of 20 achievers with DK district Rajyothsava award on the occasion of 58th Kannada Rajyothsava Day to be held at Nehru Maidan on Nov 1, Friday.

Speaking after releasing the list of award winners at the press meet held at DC Court on Oct 31, Thursday, DC N Prakash who is also the chairman of award selection committee said that over hundred applications for the Rajyotsava award has been received and 22 have been selected based on the overall criteria.

 

The award winners selected in various categories are Bola Chittaranjan Das Shetty, B L Nagaraj and ‘Shanthi Prakashana’ (publishing house)for Literature; Harry D’Souza of Harry’s ‘Silver Band’ for Music, Suresh Attavar for Fine Arts, Leelavathi Baipadithaya for Yakshagana, Dayanand Kattalsar and Annu Paravan for Folklore, Dr D C Chowta for Agriculture, Dinesh Attavar for Theatre, P B Harish Rai and Harish for Media, Elias Sanctis for Social service, Aravind Bolar for Cinema, Vijaya Vittalanath Shetty for Art Patronage, Prakash Devadiga for Classical music, Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala (Ullal) for Organization, Dr Annayya Kulal for Kannada-favouring service, Madhava Ullal for  Environment and Umesh Rao Yekkur for Education.

B Ramanath Rai, minister for forest, environment, ecology and DK district in-charge will present the awards to the achievers.

ADC K Dayanand, MCC Commissioner Shanady Ajit Kumar Hegde and Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of Dakshina Kannada district unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat were present at the press meet.
