Disaster Response Force shows how to rescue drowning people

Bantwal, May 16, 2012 : The Disaster Response Force of the National Disaster Management Authority organized a demonstration to teach the public how to deal with drowning accidents on May 14, Monday.

However, the public did not realize for a long time that it was a mock drill. Many people were scared when they saw the Disaster Response Force automobiles parked beside the new bridge across River Nethravathi, near BC Road and speed boats conducting a search operation on the river. They felt that someone had really fallen into the river.

The Disaster Response Force personnel showed people how to rescue drowning people with the help of rubber tubes, ropes, and plastic bottles. One of them pretended to be drowning, while the others rescued him.

Vikram Singh, the assistant commandant, explained how a person can save him/herself with the help of plastic bottles.

Tahsildar C. H. Anand Naik, Circle Inspector Anil Kulkarni, Town Council Chief Officer R. V. Jattanna, Sub Inspector Shekar, and many others were also present.
