Dharmasthala: SIT traces identity of one skeletal remain found at Banglegudda

Belthangady, Sep 19, 2025: In the case of seven skeletal remains discovered in the Banglegudda area of Dharmasthala village, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has reportedly identified one of the skeletons through an ID card found at the site.

According to SIT officials, the remains are believed to belong to U.B. Ayyappa (70), a resident of Shettigeri village in Ponnampet taluk, Kodagu district. An ID 
card bearing his name was recovered near the skeletal remains.

The SIT suspects that the body may be Ayyappa’s, and further verification has been initiated. Family members had earlier lodged a missing complaint at Kattu police station after Ayyappa went missing while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mysuru. No trace of him was found until now.

Currently, only a skull and bones have been recovered. Forensic tests will confirm whether the remains indeed belong to Ayyappa.
