Dental check-up camp organised for special school children on August 11 and 12

Mangaluru, Aug 13, 2022: Nitte Special Child Care Centre along with the Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry and Department of Public Health Dentistry in collaboration with Lion’s Special School, Surathkal organised a camp on the occasion of Independence Day on 11th and 12th August, 2022.

This camp was organised to raise awareness on maintenance of oral hygiene, screen and treat children with minimally invasive techniques.

Inauguration was done with a prayer song by the students and lighting of the lamp by the teachers and students along with Prof. (Dr.) Amitha Hegde (President- N-SPECC) and Prof. (Dr.) Amarshree Shetty (Secretary- N-SPECC).

Badges with the national flag were distributed to all students for the celebration of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.

Prof. (Dr.) Amarshree Shetty explained the importance of oral health and ways to maintain it. The need for dental attention in conditions of trauma and ways for immediate management were further explained to the teachers and students.

A total of 11 doctors (2 postgraduates and 7 interns and 2 professors from N-SPECC) were assigned zones for screening and treatment for the students.

75 students were screened at this camp and minimally invasive treatment was provided. Students needing invasive therapy were advised to report at A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences with a referral form for further treatment.
