Decomposed body of missing Kundapur fisherman found in Ullal

Mangaluru, Aug 18, 2026: The decomposed body of a 31-year-old fisherman from Kundapur, who went missing after a giant wave swept him off a fishing boat on August 9, was found at Kotepura Alivebagilu in Ullal on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Narayana, a crew member of the fishing boat Ocean Star, which had ventured into the sea from Mangaluru harbour for fishing.

 

The incident occurred when a massive wave struck the boat, sweeping Narayana into the sea.

Following the incident, the boat owner and family members had been searching for him for the past eight days. A missing person complaint was also registered at Pandeshwar police station.

The inquest was conducted at Wenlock Hospital. Ullal police have registered a case of unnatural death (UDR) in connection with the incident.
