Dead Maoist identified as Yallappa of Raichur

Mangalore, Sep 8, 2012: ANF Commander Alok Kumar announced on Friday that the Naxal who was killed in the recent encounter in Baginamale forest area on the night of Tuesday is a Kannada speaking person identified as Yallappa alias Dinakar of Raichur. 

Reportedly, Yallappa had joined the Maoists in 2004 and was a member of the Naxal Area Committee. 

Mr. Kumar said that the ANF suspects Yallappa of training other Maoists to make bombs because they found some fuse wires in his bag. The ANF had no information about Yallappa’s involvement in Maoist activities in this area, he added. 

The ANF surmises that Yallappa might have joined the team recently to give them special training on making bombs, said Mr. Kumar, adding that the police are now trying to get in touch with his family.
