Deacon Richard Menezes ordained priest of Mission of Belur

Hassan, Apr 17, 2013: Deacon Richard Menezes was ordained to priesthood at a solemn ceremony held at Mathihalli in Hassan district on April 16, Tuesday.  Fr Thomasappa Anthonyswamy, the Bishop of Chikmagalur ordained Deacon Richard Menezes to priesthood at a  Eucharist concelebrated by over 40 priests.

 

 

 

The Mission of Belur  to which the sub-station of Mathihalli belongs, was entrusted to the Discalced Carmelites of the Karnataka-Goa Province in 1982. The present parish priest, Fr Cyril Menezes, OCD, who has served the parish for 14 years  is the first Carmelite vocation in Belur.

Fr Archibald Gonsalves, OCD, the Provincial Superior of the Karnataka-Goa Province of Discalced Carmelites was among others present on the occasion.

Fr Richard Menezes  who spoke on the occasion, thanked all those who extended help to him in his endeavour to become a priest.
