Dasara celebrations of Kudroli Temple to begin on Oct.14

Mangalore, Oct 9, 2012: The Dasara celebrations of 2012 and the centenary celebrations of Shree Gokarnanatha Kshetra are going to be grand events of historical significance. 


Speaking at a press meet held at Shree Gokarnanatha Kshethra in Kudroli, Harikrishna Bantwal, member of the temple development committee, said that centenary celebration will begin on Oct 14 and will continue till Oct 25, with over 200 temple priests taking part in the Brahmakalashotsava rituals. The Shivagiri Mutt Swamiji will be present on Oct 19 – 20.

On Oct 14, devotees from all over DK, Chikmagalur, Udupi, Kerala, Hassan, Maharashtra, Mysore, Bangalore, Gujarath, and others will offer hasiru hore kanike to the temple. The hore kanike will be brought in 1000 vehicles, which will make the event a record setter. The vehicles will reach Nehru Maidan first, after which they will proceed to Kudroli Temple in a procession. People belonging to different religions will take part in the hore kanike, he added. 


As many as 20,000 to 30,000 devotees are expected to visit the temple daily, and over one lakh devotees will be part of the annasantharpane, he added. 


H. S. Sairam, president of the temple management committee; Raghavendra Kulur, vice president; Urmila Ramesh Kumar, co-president of the temple development committee; and various temple development members such as Vishwanath Kasargod, Devendra Poojary, M. Shekar Poojary, and others were also present.
