No New Works During Monsoon Except Essential Projects, Says Deputy Commissioner

With the onset of the monsoon season, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan has directed authorities not to undertake any new development works other than those essential for monsoon preparedness and management.

Chairing a disaster management review meeting for the Mangaluru City Corporation limits at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, he instructed officials to immediately restore roads that have been dug up under various ongoing projects and complete pending works without delay.

The Deputy Commissioner also ordered the removal of encroachments obstructing the free flow of rainwater and called for strict action against violations. Construction materials and debris from private building projects lying on roadsides and footpaths must be cleared immediately, he said.
