Dakshina Kannada administration pays tribute to victims of 2010 Mangaluru air crash

Mangaluru, May 23, 2026: The Dakshina Kannada district administration on Friday paid homage to the victims of the tragic air crash that took place at Bajpe Airport on May 22, 2010, 16 years ago.

A tribute programme was held at Tannirbhavi in memory of those who lost their lives in the disaster, with prayers offered for the eternal peace of the departed souls.

A memorial park has been developed near the road connecting Kuloor Bridge and Tannirbhavi in remembrance of the 158 people who died in the crash. The site also serves as the burial place of 12 unidentified victims of the tragedy.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V. and Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy paid floral tributes at the memorial.

Mangaluru Sub-Divisional Officer Meenakshi Arya, Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Ravichandra Nayak, Pilikula Development Authority Commissioner Dr Arun Kumar Shetty and others were present on the occasion.
