Mangaluru, Oct 24, 2026: The Dakshina Kannada district unit of the BJP will organise padayatras and protests in front of gram panchayats and urban local bodies across the district before November 15 under the campaign ‘Namma Hakkigagi Namma Hejje’, highlighting what it termed the failures of the Congress-led state government and the problems faced by the public.
BJP district president Sathish Kumpala said the party would organise a padayatra from Kavoor to the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) office in Lalbagh. Padayatras and protests would also be held in all MCC wards, with programmes planned at around 250 locations across the district.
Kumpala alleged that eligible beneficiaries were not receiving social security pensions and that people were facing delays in obtaining Form 9/11 and Form 9/11B documents, 11E sketches and single-site approvals. He also claimed that people were unable to obtain BPL ration cards and farmers were not receiving adequate compensation under crop insurance schemes.
The state government had failed to allot houses and sites to the poor over the past three years, he alleged. He also accused the government of failing to address the wild elephant menace in the district.
BJP to Launch Awareness Campaign on SIR
Kumpala said BJP district units had been directed to organise the ‘Prajatantra Bachao’ campaign across the country. In Dakshina Kannada, the campaign would be held before November 5. Yuva Samvada programmes and interactions with intellectuals would also be organised.
“If the allegations of vote theft were true, the Congress would not have come to power in Kerala and Karnataka,” he said.
Asked whether the padayatras were being organised with the upcoming zilla panchayat, taluk panchayat and gram panchayat elections in mind, Kumpala said the BJP was ready to face elections at any time.
“We are protesting against the anti-people policies of the government and highlighting the problems faced by the people,” he said.
BJP Demands Comprehensive Probe into Alleged Sting Operation
Reacting to the alleged sting operation involving a woman from Dakshina Kannada, Kumpala accused Congress leaders of bringing disrepute to the district.
He referred to Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah’s claim that the sting operation was aimed at securing a ticket for the Puttur Assembly constituency. Kumpala said the claim raised questions about the possible involvement of those who had won the election in Puttur.
He demanded a comprehensive investigation to establish the facts surrounding the alleged sting operation. The probe should also examine whether similar operations had been conducted during the distribution of party tickets in other Assembly constituencies in Dakshina Kannada, he said.
