Mangalore, Aug 26, 2013: The DK District Committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India staged a protest in front of the DC office in Mangalore on August 26, Monday demanding uniformity in prices of hotel food in the district.
Addressing the protestors, Muneer Katipalla, District DYFI President, said the hoteliers in Mangalore have increased the prices of food unscientifically on the pretext of rise in prices of raw materials. He criticized the district administration as well as the state government for not taking the issue seriously though it has hit hard the poor and the middle class people. He said the hoteliers and bus operators instead of fighting against the soaring prices of raw materials have passed on the burden on the common man.
He said the DYFI would continue its agitation until the prices of hotel food are reduced. DYFI District Secretary Dayananda Shetty, Seetaram Shetty, Sowmya Panjimogaru and others took part in the protest.
