
Puttur, Sep 6, 2013: Former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda has stressed the need for the government to ensure that teachers concentrated merely on their school activities, instead of deputing them for various other works.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Teachers Day celebrations held at Puttur Guru Bhavan on September 5, Thursday under the aegis of the Department of Public Instructions, Teahers Day celebrations Committee, Teachers Welfare Fund and Puttur Block Education Officer’s Office.
Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty who presided over the function also voiced the same opinion and added deputing teachers for other works will affect their duties in schools.
Dr KP Putturaya delivered the key note address. Sullia MLA S Angara, TP President Shashiprabha Sampya, TP Executive Officer M Vijaya Gowda, DDPI Moses Jayashekhar and others were present as chief guests.
A monthly named ‘Shikshana Padadana’ was released on the occasion. Teachers who bagged district and state level awards last year as well as retired teachers were honoured.
A memorandum enlisting the various demands of the teachers was submitted to Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty on the occasion by Mamuchan, President of Karnataka State Primary School Teachers Association.
