DRI officers nab man at airport, seize over 1kgs gold

Mangalore, Nov 22, 2012 : The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officers have arrested a man who had more than 1kg gold in his possession at Mangalore International Airport.

The arrested is Abdul Khader (25) from Bhatkal, a graduate from Fisheries College, Mangalore.

He arrived at Mangalore International Airport from Dubai early in the morning of Nov 21, Wednesday. The DRI officers, who had already received a tip about him, nabbed him as soon as he alighted.

According to reliable sources, the DRI officers have confiscated from him 1.11kg of gold worth Rs. 35 lakh in the form of ornaments and bars.

It may be recalled that the DRI seized red Sandel wood worth Rs. 3 crore on Oct 23 and saffron worth Rs. 24 lakh on Nov 3 at the Mangalore International Airport.
