Mangaluru, Apr 16, 2019: With just another day to go for the crucial Lok Sabha elections in Dakshina Kannada constituency, the administration will be enforcing prohibitory orders under Section 144 from April 16(today) at 6 pm till 6 pm on April 19.
Speaking to reporters here on April 16, Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said liquor sale has also been banned in the district from April 16 till April 18 midnight.
Strict vigil will be maintained during election through live streaming of the process. Sensitive booths will have 300 micro observers and six central paramilitary forces.
Open campaigning draws to a close at 6 pm today, the DC said adding still door-to-door campaigning could be done in a small group.
He informed that there are a total of 1,861 polling booths in the constituency which has 8,79,050 female voters and 8,45,308 male voters. So far the authorities have seized Rs 31,00,495 unaccounted cash, 15 vehicles and 84,285,10 litres of alcohol.
On election day no one will be allowed to make arrangement for transportation of voters, the DC said adding mobile phones will not be permitted inside polling booths.
