Mangalore, Dec 9, 2011: The district administration of DK will organize a 4-day state-level Bala Shrujanotsava at Pilikula Nisargadhama on Jan 22 – 25, 2012.
Sulochana G. K. Bhat, the president of Bala Bhavana, informed reporters at a press meet held today that the objective of this event is to introduce the culture and traditions of different states to the children of DK and to provide opportunities for children to mix freely and learn creative skills from one another.
She said that 15 child achievers aged 10 – 16 and 2 supervisors each from 73 Bal Bhavanas of various states will participate. Besides, 2, 500 – 3000 children from DK will also participate. The participants will be accommodated in 14 schools near Vamanjoor.
Ten committees have been formed to ensure the success of this event under the guidance of the district commissioner. Sub committees will also be formed during subsequent meetings. Teachers who can converse in Hindi as well as English, Home Guards, and scouts and guides will help conduct the event. A medical team and ambulance facility has also been arranged.
A grand procession will mark the beginning of the event at 3:30 p.m. on Jan 22 and the formal stage ceremony will commence at 5:30 p.m. MLAs, MPs, and other social leaders will participate in the stage ceremony, which will be followed by cultural activities.
On the second day, group activities will be conducted for the children while a picnic to Panambur is arranged for the third day, where kids will be taught sand art and kite making by Team Mangalore, a group of avid kite fliers.
During the valedictory ceremony, the art crafts made by the kids will be displayed and a prize distribution ceremony will be held, she said.
Roopa D. Bangera and Mayor Praveen were also present at the press conference.
